Recently we posted that one of the most important things employers look for in job candidates is their related previous experience.
One of our past students Yuka Narita recently contacted us to tell us some great news! We placed Yuka for her internship at Westjet last year over the summer.
She worked as a Guest Services Ambassador from June to September where she assisted Westjet customers with their questions and flights as well as helped with baggage and check in process. Yuka did a great job at her internship and received a strong recommendation.
When Yuka went back to Japan she started working at a travel agency for some time, but she was very determined in her dream of one day working at the airport. Yuka applied to work at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan and was successful at the interview. Her good news and update for us was that she was now working at Kansai International Airport as part of the ground staff. She is working with Swissport – a well-known worldwide company and a leader in aircraft ground handling services and passenger/cargo services and she is currently assigned to support Turkish Airlines. Her responsibilities are check in services, departure gate, arrivals and baggage. Yuka believes that having previous experience in the industry she was interested in, is what made her successful for this position. We are so pleased to hear Yuka’s success and wish her all the best on her career!
Internships and co-ops are a great way to get the related experience you need to be successful at a future job. We offer support to students in a number of different industries and if you want to find out more on how we can help you, join us for our information session on October 2nd.
